Welcoming Fall

You might have noticed that our events page is pretty full. First Parsons is a vibrant congregation that is focused on living into our mission of “knowing God and making God’s love known to others.” To do that we offer bible study, conversation time, groups for people who don’t identify as religious, music groups, and children’s events.

Just like the season that is about to change to fall, First Presbyterian Parsons is in a season of change. Change is not easy. That is one reason God gave us the church. The church is a place where we can find grace in the midst of life’s changes. In this season of change, we are striving to be a place of grace and welcome and kindness.

You may have heard that we have listed our building for sale. We love that beautiful, old, stately building. The difficult decision reached by the congregation was made after much prayerful discernment.

These faithful, brave Presbyterians are stepping out in faith that God has more in store for us than being keepers of a building. We feel that God is calling us to try new things and reach new people with lifegiving love. We are making a difference in the lives of people in Parsons and the surrounding areas.

The rumors of our demise are a bit premature. We are following God’s call to a new way of being church. We are taking the best of our traditions and trying a new thing. We are reformed and always being reformed by the work of the Holy Spirit.
